I think a species tank of tiger barbs would be nice, but I am not sure on the number you could put in a 25 gallon.

Hey whats a semi-aggressive tank? Does it get up and chase you around the room? bite your leg off or does it just semi harrass you?

Rasboras get my vote.

8)

I would define "Semi-aggressive" as fish that are "Semi-compatible" in a community setting; tending to act fiesty, "nippy", overly active

Yes.

6-8 tiger barbs max. They'll get to 3" as adults, and 8 might even be too many adults, especially in a tall tank (less swimming area since most fish like to swim side to side, not up and down).

I'd plop a nice, fat Red-tail shark in there too. Very pretty, and a helluva sheriff. He'll keep those barb hoolagans from getting too cocky - also might eat a bit of your algae for ya.

It does seem I am leaning towards asian-origin fish, am I not??
What a perfect opportunity for a mini Asian-type Biotype setup!

29 or 30 gallon Asian Biotype
(8-10) Tiger Barbs
(1) Red-tailed Black Shark
Additions maybe? (with numbers )

Gonna aim for 3wpg, 6500K...Flourite substrate (red)
Rocks/pebbles around fore/midground, driftwood

Suggest other plants for an Asian setup?
Here are the ones seem to be asian biotype applicable:
Giant Hygro [back]
Bamboo Plant/Dwarf Asian Grass (Blyxa japonica) [fore]
Wendtii Crypts (mid)
Cryptocoryne becketti (mid)

Feedback/helpful information?
