garage tank...Will it be okay?

So we're moving this weekend, the house doesn't have room to house two 125g tanks. I'm thinking of putting my turtle tank in the garage.
I live in middle Tennessee a little north of Nashville, the summers are hot and the winters mildly cold (from Chicago). We do get below freezing but I think with 600 watts worth of heaters, an insulated garage door and a small ceramic heater to keep the garage above freezing.
The turtles are a 5ish yo Cumberland slider (native to the south east)
And a 2ish yo yellow belly slider (native to the south east)

Is this doable or do I need to rehome them and the tank?

For winter, get from Loew's or home Depot a 3/4 thick sheet of styrafoam. Cut it to fit the ends and back and just use scotch tape to hold it on. If you set the tank heater(s) to about 45F you will be good. Don't feed them when the temp is below 65F. The digestive system will be too slow then. If you feed them till they have a hard time
fitting in their shell without bulging by the arms, they will have enough fat to last 3-4 months without food.
I would not keep them fat like that all year. I'd start it in mid Aug.
I know someone who has some kind of smaller breed of map turtle who does this. He has a plastic tub he puts them in to feed them and leaves them in it for a couple of hrs after so he don't need to clean their tank near as often.

The shortest distance between any two points is a straight the opposite direction...
