What foreground? Where to buy?

What is the quickest growing foreground that:
1. Won't float to top
2. Won't grow higher than 2 inches
3. Is not hair
4. Doesn't look messy
5. Is a beginner plant

Where should I purchase it?

Btw, Dwarf Baby tears all died on me.

Hi pezrock,

Welcome to TPT. I have few thoughts regarding the criteria outlined. I do not know the parameters (light, ferts, CO2, temp, water conditions, etc) so specific recommendations will be difficult.

1. All plants will float if uprooted. For example my Corys do a good job when I have freshly planted an area....I just replant. Once an area is established it is not a problem.
2. With or without pruning?
3. Fine, no Eleocharis species
4. All plants require some maintenance to look good; nature tends to be 'messy'
5. There are definitely some that are 'easier' than others if given the correct conditions.

All of that said, I found the following species to be relatively easy.
Helanthium tenellum - Pygmy Chain Sword (but it may be too fine for you)
Marsilea minuta -
Micrantherum umbrosum 'Monte Carlo' -

Where to buy? I have purchased 95% of the various plants in my tanks from the various plant forums and my local aquarium club.

Marsilea minuta

Micrantherum umbrosum 'Monte Carlo'

Thank you,

I was leaning toward chain sword, but now I will research the other 2 mentioned. Thanks again.
