I bought a Starlight Bristlenose Pleco. They called them Silk Pleco at my LFS. I was wondering if the female's bristles have the split ends or not?
That was the only thing I judged upon trying to get a pair. I got a larger one with no split ends, and a smaller one with split ends. heres the pic of the male(i think)

Hes got like 1 bristle higher then the rest in the center of his head

the supposed female is slightly larger with shorter bristles

Does anybody think I'm more or less correct?

I read somewhere that the female bristlenose do not have the bristles, only the males have the bristles. This may not refer to all species.

There were about 20 of them in the fish store. Unless someone bought out all the females, females may just have smaller bristles. At least this is what I hope.

I would say that they both are males, and the rest of them in your LFS are probably males too.
The reason is that WF Ancistrus often are males because they are catch by lifting up woods and it will be mostly males in the woods trying to protect there eggs.

Yes some one bought the females before you while there may not have been more than two females

I was searching thru the posts, My female's bristles(which I couldn't get a pic yet) are very short and stubby like buck's pic of his albino

All I can do is hope I guess. I'll see in about 6 months or so, if the female's bristles doesn't grow any longer

I feel your pain. I have pruchased 4 German Rams over the last few months trying to get a female. I think I ended up with all males though.

Regards,
Robert
