Starting Moss and carpet.

So I will soon be adding Java Moss and Java fern/Amazon sword to my 55g tank. . I've been told these can be attached to my driftwood piece and they will attach.

This piece is fake and got it at petsmart. Does that make a difference? Here's a photo. How would I go about getting these to spread and grow? Thanks!

It doesn't matter. It will attach fine. Some people tie it on, some people use superglue. If you are trying to cover the whole thing, I find it's easier to tie on, I just tie a knot at one end, start wrapping thread around it, adding moss as I go. It takes longer than gluing but I find I can get it more even.

If you are doing it in just small spots, then just use super glue. It will even work underwater. That's my preferred method when just adding it to specific places.

One thing to consider...another type of moss. I am really not a big fan of Java Moss myself and their are plenty more choices out there. The problem with moss is once you add it, you will never get rid of it so make sure that is the moss you really want.

It doesn't make a difference the moss will attach to fake driftwood or real driftwood. I just use sewing thread to attach moss to driftwood and rocks, just tie the thread to one end of the driftwood, place the moss where you want it then wrap the thread around the moss and driftwood. You can also use fishing line. Take the driftwood out to do this, its much easier.

So if i got my plants this week and attach them to my driftwood, and then make a driftwood switch, can I just take the plant off and get it restarted? It'll be a quick driftwood switch as the piece I have now keeps getting fish stuck in it
