Weird Dwarf Gourami Behavior.

Hey guys.
I have a male dwarf Gourami in a 20 gallon heavilyish planted tank.
For the last couple of days he has been hanging at the top of the tank, but them swims like he normally would.
Today, I saw him floating on his side like en he was dead. Then, I turned on n the light amd then he started swimming normally.
Why is this happenning?

He probably was sleeping, yes, fish do sleep. My betta fish used to do this, would scare the crap out of me. Other times though I see my neon tetras at night without their blue strip running into the sand at the bottom of my tank, and once a little guy even kinda swam right into a piece of driftwood.

If he is swimming normally after turning on the lights or during the day I would assume above, however if he is turning sideways and/or gasping for air then there is something else wrong.
