Question Random tetra death? What the heck

Found my shrimp munching away on a dead pristella tetra. Checked water piramaters with the API test kit and everything is in check. How long do these guys live? I bought them about 3 1/2 years ago.

I don't question it with tetras if you've had them for at least 2-3 years. I have kept a couple of glowlights and neons for 5 years and there was a black skirt that lived for seven, but for the most part these guys last 3-4 years and that's if you buy them small. If you buy them and they're already 1 year old then you do the math...

If it's only the one fish then I wouldn't worry, they don't live forever and a tetra typically is about 2 to 3 years.

I had a danio just drop after 9 months or so. The others were fine, it made no sense. Just his time to go I supposed.
