I took a GH test and I put in 18 drops which it says I have hard water, I heard that you can Lower GH by diluting Tap water with Distilled Water is this true? I will do a water change soon like 15gal so Im thinking a 50/50 Mixture 7 gal distilled and 7 gal Tap, Anyone else got a Idea on how to lower GH?

Yes mixing with RO water is the easiest way to lower it... But why do you want to....

I would not worry too much about GH, much more important for a planted tank is KH, what does that read?

And in addition, high GH is benificial for plants and it doens't harm fish. Why do you want to lower it?

What do you mean it never got to an end point? Did it turn to the end point color right away, usually thats yellow. No start point...the start point should come after the first drop? So it just remained clear? Need some clarification.

GH can be from 0-30+

yes it was clear after first drop, eventually it turns yellow but according to color chart of test kit end color is supposed to be pink and start color blue

Could be defective. May I suggest the aquarium pharmacueticals deluxe GH and KH test kit? Very reliable IME.
