Amount of light

My new goldfish/plant tank has been up and going for a while now. The otto's and rubber lips are doing good at keeping the alge mowed. I have had my plant lights on a timer for 8 hours a day. Can I increase this amount of time to get better growth from my java ferns and anubias? I also have one amazon sword. Using Rex's dry ferts but no co2.

My experience with javas and anubias is more light = more algae. These plants are slow growers and the addition of more light gives algae a better chance of growing on the leaves which becomes a PITA to remove later.
