Stem plants often shoot out roots from any part of the stem. Some plants are worse than others. It isn't a sign of any problems or anything. Just clip them off if you don't like the way they look.

roots growing from nodes higher up is perfectly natural, just unsightly. plants do it most if they grow too tall and start growing horizontally.

Like the others have said, its normal.

If you want to clip, that's a good place to do it to replant.

off topic a little but for rooted/stem plants will they just keep growing from the same stem or they actually spread to the side and new stems will start to grow?

ITS NEVER ENOUGH!!!

Most stem plants propagate by sideshoots (ie. shoots off the main stem). They don't produce runners. You can trim the tops off of most stem plants and replant them while leaving the rooted part in the substrate. New shoots should grow from the rooted portion, assuming it is in decent health

stems generally look like this:
l
l l
l l
l
l
l
l

that little side branch can be cut and replanted. the tip of one with no shoots will also usually work (certain plants cant be propogated like that).
