i think this is a good thing, i am likening it to propogation.
i had to tear the tank down today to remove some mean critters and in the process, the anubias got knocked around a bit and when i "cleaned" it up, a cute little baby plant came of in my hands. i have tied it down to the log near mom with some fishing line.
i am so proud. all i can keep alive in the tank are java fern and anubias and they are both doing so well!

If you score the rhizome down just beyond the cortex (darker green outer layers) at intervals along its length, you may encourage new rhizomes to develop at those sites.
