is this mold?

I can't get a close enough pic and i did try to do a search before asking,
but i have this peice of malaysain driftwood that i bought at the pet store. Its been in my tank for over a month and I saoked it for about three weeks before putting it in my tank. I changed the water every few days while saoking too, and had an airstone in there.

Well, just recently i noticed a few very small white dots on it, like salt grain size. I thoght nothing of it, but today there are more, some of them seem to be dotted in a little 'chain'. Im wondering if this is mold and should i take out the driftwood? I cant see any fuzz, they are just very small white dots.

thanks in advance for replies.

It's pretty common for driftwood to develop fungus, especially new driftwood. It's usually harmless and will go away in time. If it's concerning you, or it seems to be spreading, you could boil the wood?

I've experienced something similar, and I eventually had to take the wood out as it became totally engulfed in white mold. My own fault for not boiling it long enough. Just keep an eye on it and bleach or boil it if it becomes a problem.
