My new find! Think I should set it up?

Went to the local bi annual auction today and here is my $14 score.

It an OLD 30g MetaFrame Deluxe 24x24x12. After some cleaning and alot of razorblading the calcium and lime build ups off, assuming it was used as saltwater, 3 sides are pretty scratched up. The last side is alright but not perfect. Tank needs to be resealed at the edges of the glass and also the slate but it was all cleaned up. Has a hole in the bottom for an airline with a larger rubber plug that will be removed and silicone a piece of glass over it. What does everyone think? Should I tear down my 20H and use this?

What I would do with that!

I would drill the slate for a stealth canister install and use a halide pendant for lighting!

Drilling it would be easy as I'm a mason and have access to the right tools. And have a 70 watt MH fixture that I could hang over it...

Waiting to finish getting the glass clean to see where I go with the tank If the glass is as bad is it may look I may end up keeping my 20H as my planted tank. Depends on how many scratches I can stand to look at.

sweet man. Much more unusual and cool looking than a 20h.

Craigthor -

That is a cool tank. I like the retro look.

Its funny though. Last time someone posted pictures with a tank with a chrome frame there were a lot of people that didn't like it. Either times have changed, or "the crowd" has accepted the retro look. LOL

Well unless I can find a way to get the slate out to replace the glass panes I won't be using this for a planted tank unfortunately. The glass is alot worse after a though cleaning and looks as if it has been etched with something as it has a milky look too it after removing all the build up. Any idea how to remove the top frame so I can replace the glass?
