I need to change regime, will this work or any ideas?

I have tried to set my DIY co2 away but even if I aerate during the night I still have sicky Discus the next day. I have now stopped co2 input in the tank and need some help to change.

I have my Juwel 180l tank, 2x30w Aquaglow tubes and 1 Sunglow tube with reflectors. Lights on for about 10 hours with a lights off for approx 1.5 hours during the day.

SOOOO what are the plants I need to grow sucessfully in a non co2 tank of my lighting level. I currently am dosing PMDD and want to continue with this method. If I can have a listing of plants that would suit and a location plan of where abouts they go in a tank, it would be great.

Thanks

David

180L = approx 45 gallons, so IMO I'd just stick with the 2x30watt tubes, and pick plants from the list in the sticky at the top of the Low Tech forum.

Swords, Vallisnerias, Crypts, Bacopa, Hygrophilias would be the plants I'd start with- the more hardy species should be able to take discus temps.

If you want. No reason not to. I'd cut the dosage proportionate to the lighting decrease, however?

Discus need a bigger tank than 45 gallons, and there is no way a 2L bottle of diy co2 is to much for a 45 gallon tank. How were you doing the diy co2?

OK...sooI have a Red Sea Co2 Diy kit, I simply make up a yeast mix and have it output thru the internal venturi on the pump nozzle. I also have an external eheim 2215 filter too. At 10.00 I switch in an air pump that also feeds the venturi so it aerates the tank at night. Doing this seems to make the Discus sickly and do head stands etc. Once I kill the c02 and just aerate all is fine as they have been for the past 2 days now.
