Hi,
Just got in an order of Crypt. wendtii 'bronze' -had ordered both 'brown' and 'bronze' varieties but as luck would have it only 'bronze' was available (have not been able to find a source for 'brown' except for one dealer who, apparently, is out now too...). I was a little disappointed that the 'bronze' I received appears very green in color -in fact at a casual glance I wouldn't know the difference between the 'green' that I have already and the 'bronze' I just received. I've read that leaf color w/wendtii can vary with growing conditions. Anyone had any experiences with this? Do wendtii 'bronze' (and 'brown' and 'red' for that matter) show more color (i.e. less green) in higher light conditions like other red/non-green leafed plants do or vice versa? Are there any other growing conditions that can affect leaf color in crypts?

Thanks,
-Peter.

Emersed growth on just about all of the wendtii varieties can appear green or greenish, but they'll eventually turn color as they produce submersed growth. 'Bronze' is a beautiful variety of wendtii, perhaps my favorite.

I love crypt. wendtii and have all bronze, red and green. The bronze one was abit green when I got it also. But they will slowly turn bronze. The real green leaves will die and replaced by bronze color new leaves.

The wendti red has more green than the bronze one. All my crypts are under high light so I'm not sure if their color would be different under low light.

I've had some weird experiences with Wendtii.
I've had what was supposed to be the same variety look completely different from tank to tank, and some the were even in the same tank, take on different characteristics. Lighter in shade or even some that were low growing(almost flat) and some that were more upright.
Nothing about Cryptocorynes surprises me anymore.
