Pregnant Females.

I purchased a tank a week ago, set it up and added plants. A day later I added Ghost Shrimp and continued to cycle the water all week. Today I added 2 male guppies (one red and one black) and three females (One red and two black). I have fry and sexing tanks set up already and am ready for babies. But, 2 of my females seem extremely bulbous and large. The males swim near them, but dont chase them or harass them. Is this normal for pregnant guppies? Can i expect them soon?

You can generally tell when females are pregnant with a dark spot behind their stomach, it's referred to as the Gravid Spot. As the gestation continues, you can start to see the spot get lighter as she grows, and in most cases see the eyes of the fry. Keep a close eye on the female and note how the spot changes to determine when you will have fry. Good luck!
