After going thru the photo album here and looked at all the nice tanks you geniuses create, I've been trying to make my Rotala Indica look as nice as those in the album. The problem is, after several prunings, they start growing branches. This really screw up the look because they don't grow straight up no more. Some grows diagonally and other shoot across. I read that they tend to do that after several prunings. But how many time can I prune them before I have to re-plant the top to keep the nice straight up looks? Or do you guys just take out the old and re-plant the top all the time? I think I have the ugliest bunch of Rotalas compare to anyones.

Any tips would be appreciated...Thanks

Prune off all the tops and branch's, pull the bottoms and roots out an chuck them and replant the tops and branchs.
Stem plant roots lose their effectiveness with age and the secret to keeping them healthy is to continually prune and replant the tops.

yep, prune off growing tips to encourage the plant to bush up.

about plant aging....Eusteralis is the worse... prune them several times and they will melt off...

Is this true? Stem plants when it gets too tall or leggy, you're supposed to cut top and then ditch the bottom stem AND roots? That seems severe to me...but what do I know? lol
