Will this coralline algae go away?

I am a reefer at heart and i have worked long and hard to get my tanks full of colorful coralline algae...but now that I am setting up my planted tank, I need a heater and the only heater I have laying around at the moment is COVERED from top to bottom in the stuff!

Will it go away over time or will i forever have pink, purple and light green splotches on my heater? It wont spread in freshwater, will it? That would be a little odd...lol

Thanks!

Send a message via MSN to sea-horsea
take it out...dry it...and they will fall off....they shouldn't hurt the tank but I am not sure...I did get rid of most of it on my heater.

ITS NEVER ENOUGH!!!

^ water + vinegar. Straight vinegar will stink up the heater if it's made of plastic. But that's just my two cents.

Hm...

Will it actually hurt anything if I just leave it on?
