I don't want to leave random floating bits of moss in my tank from clippings so I was thinking just putting em in a tupperware fill it and set it by the window with daily water changes to provide some nutrients and keep water from going stagnant.

Can this work or will it just die? what would i need to make this work?

You certainly can. You really do not need daily water changes: top off once in a while, WC every couple of weeks or longer. Maybe add couple of snails.

i'm in the same boat as you! i'm inspired by that thread, i'm going to set up some vases for my moss to live in.

You can do this without the water too!!! Most of the mosses we grow in the aquarium can grow emmersed as well, just not fissidens.

I mist the moss regularly and keep the lid on so the humidity stays high. No algae problems!!!

You can do a dry stay with fissden though. I thought I saw a picture of it growing on a rock emmersed but have not tried it myself.
