New plants: hours of light per day?

I have a 55 gallon just planted with some hornwort, a few swords, and java ferns. With the full spectrum on the Satellite Plus fixture, how many hours should I be timed for? I'm think seven or eight?

You'd be surprised by how many members are running 10-12 hr light periods without a hind of algae while others who are on an 8hr photo period cant seem to get rid of it. I would start off with 8 and after a few weeks if you don't see any algae, increase the time...or vise-versa.

I was actually able to increase the time from 8 hrs to 9 simply by raising my light 2".
