Question about diatom filters - The Planted Tank Forum

I was wondering if a diatom filter strips the water of nutrients or not.I'm not sure if I should redose after I use one.

No, it won't remove nutrients dissolved in the water. It filters down to one micron or so and while this is pretty small, it is still magnitudes larger than dissolved molecules. It may remove some bacteria and algae and thereby the nutrients they contain, but nothing dissolved.
