This is the stuff that I found at my local PetSmart.

As a beginner, I think this is what I need, yes? or did I just waste some money?

Thanks, Todd

Oh, and where can I find a supplier of plants on-line.

I want to get some Anacharis, but nobody around here has any.

Since you're growing to feed a turtle check some pond supply places - much bigger bunches than what a normal plant store will sell and for usually less price.

http://www.tricker.com/ is one place that I know of.

You are growing anacharis for your turtle, right? Seems to be a good start. Filters are always important, how bigs your tank? What are you going to top the laterite with?

Flourish fertilizer should be sufficient, it contains a broad spectrum of elements. I personally don't use it. Most people on this site use dry ferts to either dry dose their tanks directly or make liquid like you bought. It's a much cheaper alternative to buy bulk especially when your dosing several tanks.

the tank is only 10g and I might already have it "over populated" with three anacharis, one anubius, one water fern, two baby tears + a dozen minnows that will also meet Mr. Turtle sooner or later

I topped the laterite with 50/50 mix of sand and 1/4inch size pebbles for a 2inch deep "substrate" although it doesnt look too nice so I may need to add more pebbles?

the PetSmart had both kinds and not knowing any better and finding the MarineLand on sale I got it. the tank is in the laundry room so not a big deal if it's a bit noisy, so I say now

I've used that HOB, it'll be fine. Not any worse than any other brand of HOB.

Your tank is only over populated with plants if you can't ever see the fish!!

cool! because the fish are there to mate, supply "natural fertilizer" ,and then be fed to Mr. Turtle
