The second tank is Hemianthus callitrichoides or HC. I think that's what is in the first tank as well , but it could be HM (I'm not too good at differentiating the two).

I agree. The first one sure looks like HM (hemianthus micranthemoides). I currently have both, and they are both great looking foregrounds. Check them both out in the plant profiles section on this site, or at APC http://www.aquaticplantcentral.com/f...nder/index.php

First one looks like hm and the second hc. Mondo grass, get rid of it as it isn't aquatic. As far as ground cover in hawaii, all you'll find is some dwarf hairgrass and some hc. You're better off at the sns as it'll be cheaper and of better quality.

i have never seen or tried to grow hc before...other websites say it's difficult to grow and keep down. Does it grow like grass with fingers coming out the sides people say some lead will keep it down....do i need mesh or something? I love how it looks but i also have loaches in there and i think they may kick it up...if hc is to fragile what other ground covering do you suggest?
