Going away for 4 days.

I'm going away for 4 days and have nobody to watch my tank. What can i do to keep the impact to the plants/fish at min?

Shorter photo period?
Water Change day I leave?
Feed block for fish?

Any input appreciated.

Thanks

What works very well for me is do everything as normal, dosing, C02 etc, but turn the lights down and shorten the period, C02 off with lights, start a week or a couple few days before you leave to get an idea.
I have yet to have a single problem.
Feed the fish before you leave, they will be fine for 4 days without food.

Four days is nothing. I've heard bad things about those food blocks, mine were fine for 5days, no food.

4 days? Pshhht. I left my tank for 5 weeks. Of course, it was mess when I got back, but all the livestock was fine and the plants were still ok.

We bought inexpensive battery powered fish feeders when we left for a long weekend over Thanksgiving. We made sure the amount of food going in the tank was less than what we normally feed and did a water change before we left. Our lights are on timers and we left them as they normally are. The tank went 5 days and was fine.

Be careful with those feeders. When they fail, they could really kill your tank. But, for 4 days, honestly, no feeding is required. Fish are, after all, cold blooded.

Yeah they will be fine, although the little critters will be slipping & sliding up and down the front glass while blowing bubbles at you the second they see you walk through the door mine do, I find it very humorous especially with the rams, they get so excited that you are there feeding them they fly right by it having a hard time eating but I get the little guys taken care of.

Thanks to all of you for the replies.

My current photo period is 10 hours. I was going to switch to 4 hours while i was gone. And run Co2 only when lights on.

Does this sound ok?

Drop it to 3-4 hours, no CO2.

Yes, 4 hrs will work, sorry epic but I would run the C02 with the lights off with lights.
