CO2 refill

I just got my first CO2 refill and when I just opened it it felt super cold to fingers with even some kind of dry snow coming out of it and there is no smell in it ( i think its odour less)

As I am new to this kind of refill my question is:

Is this normal? It has no smell? Should it be this much cold? Is there any "type" of co2 that we need in planted tank ?

All completely normal with any pressurized gas actually.

CO2 = CO2 no special type as far as I know. You can get it refilled at a lot of places

You could easily give yourself some frostbite. Perhaps some reading on proper handling is in order.

CO2 is a liquid under pressure and is dangerously cold as a liquid.

One of the funnies about compressed gas. It is what makes and air conditioner work. The ghas is different but it goes to the compressor to be squeezed and then when it comes back inside it comes back to a gas and is cold where we blow air over the coil.
Colorless oderless and pretty safe unless you let it spray on your skin long enough to freeze it. In most cases, even the really slow thinkers move before that happens!
For type of CO2? Mostly we need the cheap stuff! Enjoy.
