Before I make an idiot of myself at the LFS...

What is the correct pronunciation of "riccia", as in Riccia fluitans, or crystalwort?

Just say crystalwort... most people would know it.

Hmmm. I always thought it was "rick-ee-uh" but I'm wrong about scientific pronunciations more often than not.

Chances are the person behind the counter will know less than you. Most LFS don't specialize in plants and don't know much about them.

If you say it like you know thats the way its supposed to be pronounced, chances are, they will know what you are talking about.

FWIW, I have heard it pronounced both ways... here is a thread on it.

C is always pronounced like k in latin, that's usually the conclusion in these threads

Are we sure riccia is latin?
Scientific names aren't always latin or greek.

if it's italian the cc is a ch sound etc..

edit: did a quick search around the web.. seems the concensus is rik-kia.
