So I just killed 2 fish in a DIY soda bottle trap.

Be this a lesson.
Make sure to poke small holes in the bottle.. I wanted to catch my flying fox. He was in there for maybe 2-3 hours with a checkered barb... Most likely they suffocated. I checked the water in the bottle for ammonia, just in case the algae wafer in the bottle release NH4. It was 0ppm.

I lost a cory to that setup. Something about an innocent little cory dieing that really gets me.

I've since either made holes (like you suggested) or checked it every hour or so.

Sorry for your loss.

Sounded like you wanted the fox out anyway.. ?

agreed. they can get a little crappy with other fish.

Personally, I'd check that one under 'no big loss'.
