fertilizer?

does anyones recommend a specific type of fertilizer?
i have a 10 gal with 36watts, one of those little hagen CO2 things, and my water is rather hard. i'm also planning on adding some sunset hygro (which i'm hoping i can get very pink). also intending to get brazilian pennywort, dwarf hairgrass, water shamrock,SŁŖwassertang and maybe some whorled pennywort.

and is this stuff any good?

i'm already ordering something from that seller so if i want something else from them i'd best order now while i can save on S&H.

if not i'd like something i can buy locally (which kinda limits me to petsmart.)

I think you may need to expand your options to internet/mail order to really get what you need, but it's possible to do without that convenience.

I think Petsmart still sells Flourish Comprehensive, that'd be a good trace element mix to use, they probably have fert tabs by Seachem too.

You need macro fertilizers though, Fleet enema is a perfect source of Phosphorus which you can get at the pharmacy or walmart. Greenlight or Spectracide Stump Remover is 100% KNO3, which is your Nitrogen source. I believe folks have said that salt alternatives in the grocery store like "no salt" or was it "New Salt" (something like that) are sources of Potassium Chloride.

i'll look into that, though i've heard i should starve my hygro of nitrates if i want it to turn really bright pink. i went ahead and bought the root monster stuff, i guess i won't know how well it works until i try it. i'll prolly end up adding macro fertilizer too but i'd like limit that. does anyone know a good guide for this stuff? nerd that i am i like to understand this stuff on a scientific level, but all i can find are primitive statements like 'ferts are good' and advertisements.

Well, there are two major methods of fertilizer usage that are popular, one is "PPS" which is "Perpetual Preservation System" and the other is "EI" which is "Estimative Index." Searching on those keywords should get you some good information. I recommend, especially at first, following on of those methods. In terms of just how scientific the information will be, I can't really say.
