can I use a garden hose for drain and fill water changes

I really don't want to pay 50 dollars for a special hose, can I just use a garden hose to drain and fill my tank during water changes? I know they say there are algaecides in the hose, but I would think that with water running that would not be an issue. What say yee?

I do and I know many people who do...and there haven't been any adverse effects...yet.

I'd just make sure the labels don't specifically say that there's any anti-mold or anti-fungal agents.

As an alternative to the typical lawn hose, you can purchase 'drinking water approved' hoses that are used for things like RVs. They're not particularly expensive, I suppose it's more of just not using those anti-mold agents and using 'safe' plasticizers, etc.

That would be my suggestion. I picked one up for something like $12 at HD a couple of years ago.
