co2 bubbles

I am running a co2 line in to my filter which is chopping up the bubbles but then the bubbles are all sitting on the the surface of my water and just floating around. this had happened overnight and could this be because the plants are not using the co2 during the night and in turn it has accumulated on the water.

Yes, plants don't use CO2 at night...the bubbles usually pop, but you might have some surface scum which lets the bubbles stay intact at the top.
