Ferts w/ ammonia?

I have a juvie angelfish in my 10g that wasn't eating for a couple weeks, I noticed Monday that he was showing some fungus on one of his fins so I pulled him out and put him in a hospital tank with some meds. It's been 3 days and I'm not sure if he's going to get better or not.

I tested the water yesterday and found about 4ppm ammonia, zero Nitrite and 20ppm Nitrate. I'd think the tank wasn't cycled if I didn't know that the tank was cycled a few months ago. I've been using Aquarium Products Planttabs for ferts, the box says that it contains ammonical nitrogen, I thought that was code name for something that came from ammonia but wasn't pure ammonia, I guess that's wrong. I think there's too much ammonia in Planttabs for my filter to process as quickly as it's released. Plants are doing good, growing several inches a week, algea is minimal, other than my angel the fish seemed fine so I thought it was just the angel acting wierd. Now I get to do large water changes daily until the ferts are done releasing ammonia.

So I decided I won't be using AP Planttabs anymore, do all root tabs contain ammonia or are there some that don't?

My flourish tabs don't say anything about ammonia of any type on the box, so I'm guessing they don't contain any. I haven't tested my water though.

I would guess that there are root tabs that don't have ammonia in them. Ammonia is usually in terrestrial plant fertilizers.
