I would probably start with ~1 BPS and work up from there. My 55 was using 3 BPS.

Thanks. Do you just estimate 1 second or are you using a timer?

well, I'm running about 3 BPS on my 125, so I use a timer set for 10 seconds, so I can concentrate on counting fairly quickly.
BPS is really a bad way to measure, but you have to start somewhere.
Just try to make your changes for when you'll be around for a while, and you can monitor things.

It doesn't need to be precise, "one thousand one" and you're done. The key statement from Taz is 'work up from there.' There are too many variables to say for X size aquarium you want X number of bubbles per time period, so 1 bps is a good starting point.
