I can't think of anything that is good except for Planted tank forum or
Aquatic Plant Central. You can try http://www.aquabotanicstore.com/

One month in.

aquariumgarden.com has a flat $11.79 shipping. You have to be willing to be a little patient with them as they only ship once a week. Their prices are good and I don't think you can beat their shipping especially for larger orders. I ordered from them once and I was happy with my order.

There is always Aquabid. I hear Lowcoaster has nice plants but I have never bought from him. He is in NY too. I have bought from Audiotribe and he has nice plants.

I can vouch for Lowcoaster and aquariumplants.com, both are reliable and have nice plants. I used aquaspotworld.com once with decent results also.

These days my favorite sources are collecting my own and other hobbyists, in that order.

+1 for aquariumplants.com. Good prices, good selection, and it all lived.

BayleesFishees.com is good (shipping included), but it is owner's pick. So, I'd only go that route if you have a new tank to stock. The $50 crap shoot filled my 75g with about ~14 plants, ~7 species. Two crypts each had 75-100+ stems. I have a couple plants I really like but don't know what they are and haven't seen them online that I could identify. I am waiting for my wife to bring the camera home from overseas to post here.

I'm giving my vote to other hobbyists, 100%. You can ask for a plant, and find one in good condition, grown submersed(most nurseries do plants immersed if possible...its cheaper and less maintenance), larger portions for less, and they can show you pictures of the exact plant you're purchasing most of the time.

I've not had any experience with plant retailers, so I can't really comment on that. I do know that I wanted some petite anubias and downoi, posted thread asking for the two, and within an hour I had someone offering me three mother plants of downoi and a huge(well, relatively speaking) anubias nana v. petite for a great price.

Believe it or not Foster and Smith http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/categ.cfm?pCatId=768 sells some quality plants. I have bought plants from them numerous times and have never been unhappy. Always well packaged and healthy. They mat not have a large list of exotic plants but if you are looking for the popular plants out there they have them.
