I have purchases a 72 gal bowfront, and have an XP3 Filstar canister. Will I need to restrict the flow on this for a South American type aquascape, or just let it go? I guess the c02 gassing occurs due to surface agitation, correct, and not due to water flow in the water column?

Can this filter's output be easily controlled?

You won't need to restrict anything. It might not even be enough filtration for some, but suits me perfectly. Yes, it is easy to adjust flow, but mine runs wide open.

Heck, I have two XP3's running on my 75 wide open. Sometimes I even worry that I don't have enough circulation in there.

When you run all your stuff in line, the flow will be restricted so much it might even be too little. Heaters and reactors all slow it down.
