What would you do with a 20L?

Even though the one I just got leaked, I am going to get another 20g Long once I get some more time. I am going to replace the 2 10g's in my room with it. My original plan was to use this as a celestial pearl danio and shrimp breeding tank. I have now read numerous attempts of this, and it doesn't seem to be a good combination. The CPD's pick off shrimplets, and the shrimp eat CPD eggs. So, now I have to make a choice. Should I make this new 20L into a CPD tank, or should I make it a shrimp tank? I have an enormous RCS population, but only a few CRS. I could possibly set up a nano for the CRS, but I would like to try to breed them as well.

CPD don't pick off just shrimplets, they will DECIMATE your RCS/CRS population.

I'd go for breeding a tank full of CPD.

Aren't adult shrimp roughly the same size as CPD's? This makes me quite displeased >

My CPD actively hunted down my RCS. I had so many that I really didn't care, but the RCS population went from close to 80 in a 10 gallon tank to less than 15-20 in a week and a half. Of course, these were skinny and hungry CPD when I first got them, but they had no qualms about hunting down my shrimp.

What's a CPD?

If you have the money, how about L-046 zebra plecos or any other ornamental pleco that remains small and also CRS. I actually have a 20 gallon long with cherries and L046 plecos.

CPD = Celestial Pearl Danio, formerly known as Galaxy Rasboras.

It's almost a shame that shrimp are so tasty. I suppose that's just life near the bottom of the food chain.

I wish I had the cash for an L046. I wouldn't even be keeping CRS if I hadn't gotten a really good deal on them.

I don't even have a breeding pair, yet. I bought 1 as a juvenile. I figured if it died, it would only lose the money for that 1, instead of a whole colony. After a few months, I bought another juvenile. This was about 2 years ago. I recently bought 3 more juveniles a few months ago. So by the time they all get to breeding size, I will place them in the tank and HOPE/PRAY a pair will mate. But that won't be for another 3-4 years anyways. So ask me the same question then.

...note to self. Breeding pair, 3 years, crazie.eddie.

Hahah.

fishscale...something I've always wanted to do was a DIY paludarium with some frogs or something.

Depends on what grade your CRS are.

If they are decent grade, you can go CRS-only tank, then small containers for breeding w/ saltwater.

Then you can sell for decent profit, so you can buy CPD!

But that's a lot of work.
