13 Watt AH no more.

It would appear that AH supply is no longer selling the 13w bright kit. Anybody know the story here? Is there anyone else selling these kits?

No? Any alternative suggestions to their 13 watt bright kit?

I replaced a 2x 13W bright kit with an overdriven T8 bulb. Works well for my 10gal tank, might be worth considering. I still use the AHS reflector though, works for T8s as well.

The double kit was using about 36 Watts (magnetic ballasts), now the single bulb uses 21 Watts. No big deal, just wanted to see what happens.

Only thing is that it is over a 2.5 gal. in a DIY hood so space is an issue.

You can find some screw in compact fluorescent bulbs (like the spiral type but without the spiral) in that size for under $5. Walmart has some near the other aquarium supplies. I've never used these bulbs so I can't attest to the quality but it's an option.

I built a DIY canopy for my 10g using screw in bulbs, you can see the how to guide here:
