Question Trimming off dying plant matter?

Hi guys. So I recently just started EI dosing, dosing every other day and a 50% water change weekly. Before that I was using the seachem flourish line. So What I've noticed is that the bottoms of rotala rotundifolia are ratty, and yellower compared to the tops I replanted. Will those eventually heal up or should I trim them pretty low so they can grow back nicely?

Also on my glosso, a lot of the leaves are dying off (or just browning). Is this an algae or it dying of a deficiency?

Sorry for photo quality, I'm using my ipod, and I have no idea how to adjust the iso

I have both of those plants, and actually have the same question! Consider this a polite bump. Anyone have any advice?

Progress: Algae is (finally) under control with new plants that are establishing well. I think I'm about to start fertilising... :S

leaves won't repair, trim off dead parts and replant.

glosso looks like there is algae there which will cause the plant to get weak and die off. a balance issues between ferts lights and co2.
