needing a top for 46 bowfront

Ok, I'm looking for a new top for my 46 bow. I don't want to go with a glass top, I want one of those black plastic tops that comes with the fixture but without the fixture. Does anyone know where to order one "without the fixture." I've been looking but can't find one. Thanks.

That's an interesting question.
I've never heard of, nor seen anything, like that.
The only thing I could suggest is to make a cardboard template of your tank top and take it to a plastics extruder/manufacturer to custom cut you a piece like that.
You may be able to find some in the yellow pages, and give them a call in advance to see if they would do something like that. The glass cutting companies will do that kind of custom cutting.
As a matter of interest - why do you want something like that - do you not light your tank in any way ?

I do light my tank. I think your misunderstanding what I want. I didn't explain it very well. I want this, http://www.arcatapet.com/item.cfm?cat=9320 but with out the light fixture (and for a 46 gal bowfront. I have a satellite + I'm putting in place of the light. The one I have was used for a hob filter so it has the plastic cut out for it and it has the plastic cut out for the old heater. I have a canister with in-line heater, so I just need about 2" of one side cut out. So I'm wanting to get a brand new top so the back is all one piece still, plus the hinge on the cover that opens is broke.

Yes I am, but I don't want to pay for the fixture. I'm seeing if I can find just the top part.

Email the company and ask if they would be willing to just sell you the top. Show pictures of the one you have, explain the issues with the cut out pieces and not needing a light and ask nicely to let you just buy a replacement top. Surely, someone out there has to sell replacement tops like this.
