Only using fiber floss?

Well on my 40B I have a marineland 150 and 100 HOB filteres. Been using just fiber floss in them other almost a year. Using water change water to clean it weekly and replacing it a small portion at a time. No problems and water quality is great, just curious if anyone else has ever done this?

I only use sponge and a bit of coral in all my filters, all my tanks. Works great!

Only bad things happen quickly.
A little allot is better than allot a little.

I use more sponge than filter floss. I have found that floss has a nasty way of strands coming loose and getting into places where they cause me grief. Like a strand wound around the impeller shaft where it collects a few grains of sand . The sand then wears the shaff to the point of needing replacement. When I do use floss types, I go with a bonded pad rather than the loose stuff.
I find this to be one I like:
Cheap enough to use and I can rinse and reuse it lots of times.
