Bleach

How much bleach to add to 5 gallons of water to kill unwanted snails? No inhabitants, only java moss, subwassertang moss, flame moss, and mini x-mas moss.

From what I have read, a lot of people have had issues with bleach dips in general when treating mosses (although some are more tolerant than others). I would suggest doing an alum bath. You can get a small container of alum in the spice section for like $3-4.
I have been using alum baths for my plants / mosses to kill snails and snail eggs before transferring over to my newer setup. I use 2 - 3 tablespoons per gallon of water and soak the plants for 24 - 36 hours, give them a rinse under the sink, then soak in clean water for a day.
The snails die rather quickly and you can see the egg sacks dissolve.

No adverse effects to the mosses once they were returned to their normal water conditions?

Good to know. I have snails in my community tank, but if/when I ever restart the ebi, all the mosses will be coming from there.
