My First Tank

Hey everyone!

I finally got my first tank up and running today. It's a 10 gallon. I've got a T8 light, Floramax and gravel substrate, a heater, and an AC30, as well as some live plants. I plan on beginning my cycling process tomorrow with the introduction of ammonia. Any comments?

I like it! I have a feeling this tank is going to look really nice!

Thank you! I hope so! I'm just hoping I got the right ammonia from the dollar store!

I've got stuff called "Pine Glo". I believe that's just the name of the brand, and that there is nothing pine related in it. It doesn't bubble and it's clear, so I think I'm good to go.

LOL! I thought I'd give the stuff a shot, so I put about .3 ml's in my tank. It's strong, 22% solution.

Here's my tank after filling it with more water, adding a glass versa-top, and adding a Current LED light:

Very snazzy. What is the plant in the gravel? - looks like some sort of crypt. Might be nice too have a taller background plant behind the java ferns (it is java ferns on the wood right?) perhaps some vallisneria? - just a suggestion. It will look amazing once you get some fish in there .

The plants in the foreground are smaller crypts, and the ones in the back are taller growing crypts. On the log are 2 Java Ferns and 2 Anubias. I will certainly look into some vallisneria!

Thanks! Right now I plan on doing a species only tank of Dwarf African Frogs. I'm about halfway into my cycle and am just waiting on nitrites to begin dropping.

Yep! They're neat little things. I can't wait to see them either! I'm planning on probably about 6 or 7 of them.

I love dwarf frogs! The tank looks great too, how much did you pay for the light?
