Hey Everyone!

First of all, I would like to thank everyone for the amount of accurate information that has been posted and how benificial it has been to my planted tank learning curve. Thanks.

I own a 72g bow front and have decided to add a few plants to go with my 4 Calico Fantails and 1 Sarasa Fantail.

Here is a pic of my tank

Bad shot, I know.. Water is also a little murky because I stirred up the sand to add a few more live plants.
Fish - 4 Calico Fantails and a Sarasa Fantail
Substrate - Silica Sand and a little pea gravel surrounding plants.
Lighting - Coralife 130w Light and 2 40w Aqua-Glo bulbs - Total 210w on for 8hours a day.
Filtration - 2 x 30/60 Whisper Filters. I will be soon setting up a 20g sump filter below this tank.

Here are a few of my fish

Calico Fantail - aka Choco

Calico Fantail - aka Taco

I purchased my plants from either Walmart or All Pets Club but I dont know the names of a few (I think I might take a picture of each one and hopefully one of the members here can tell me what they are) You might be able to see them in the tank picture above.

Any information on keeping goldfish and plants together would be greatly appreciated.

I have been into keeping fish for 10 years or so, and now thanks to PlantedTank.net, my hobby is taking a new fun direction in the way of Live plants!

Comments and suggestions are always welcome, I am here to learn and make some good friends on the way.

Goldfish really love to eat plants, so hopefully you have tough ones

I love goldies!!! I set up 46 gallon recently with 5 mixed calico fantails and a little oranda. I'm going to be finding a home for two of the fantails for a total of 4 fish in there.

I got a LOT of inspiration here - check out these goldies! https://www.plantedtank.net/forums/ph...elicopter.html

You can see that it certainly isn't impossible to keep them with plants. So far the only plant of mine they have eaten is the duckweed - and they left all the other floaters alone.

TACO!!!! OH My Goodness what an adorable fish! ha!

Thanks for that link Jen!

Taco was named by my 3yr old boy. When Taco was less than 2", he used to live in a 10g tank in my kids bedroom. He had a friend too called Bell. I laughed out loud when he told me that he wanted to call his fish Taco and Bell!
I will post a photo of Bell and the other fish soon.

Thanks for the info ikuzo!

I love it when kids name fish.... My 3 yr old daughter named our two Corydoras Peanut & Butter. When I added three Otto's, she started calling them Baby Peanut and Baby Butter!
