Filter floss or foams.....

I have the XP Medium canister filter. I have been a filter floss fan for a while but I want to cut down the cost here. I can use up a 1 lb bag of Sierra wool floss (the good stuff) in every 2 to 3 months or so. Is about $10 a bag. It adds up adding up also Co2 cost and dry ferts. I am thinking about just use foams in my XP filter. 6 blocks is only $14 and they would probably last for few years.

if you like the filter floss why don't you try that cheap polyfil batting or whatever they sell in the crafts dept of walmart and the like. maybe $2.00-3.00 a bag.

bought 20ppi foam, 40ppi foam, and syn floss in bulk rolls, less than 40 dollars for all and I have a 3'x10' roll of each...I have used less than 20% of each over the past year in an FX6 + 306 changing 1/2 of each every other month
