Why is my downoi dying!!

I am not too sure why my downoi is dying. I have pressurized c02 going at about 2-3 bps, and dose EI method. I also have about 120w of light over 8.5 gallons or so (but a lot of light is lost), with a 6.5 hour photoperiod. Aquasoil as my substrate, and PH usually sits at around 6.8 or so.

Do I have some sort of defiency?

Here is a pic.

Thanks in advance!

Just thought this unrelated picture of a rcs that jumped onto the glass and got stuck was funny. (of course i removed him and put it back into the water)

Could be tank temp.. my downoi did better around 76-78. when my tank was at 82.. the downoi didn't do too well.

Also my downoi suffered when my CO2 bottle ran out and I left it for a week without CO2 injection.

too low nitrates also seemed to affect it.

when fist put in my tank, downoi melted a bit, but once the roots really got into the substrate.. the leaves came back strongly. I think this is a root feeder, it sure does develope a strong root system. Very matted within the substrate.

Epsom Salts. a little bit added to my tank seems to hlep the downoi too. I am guessing maybe they liked the sulfate or something else.

In my experience Downoi is a light hungry plant. It needs to be in the foreground with nothing around it that will over grow it and start to shade it out.

Also, it looks like you don't have it planted deep enough into the substrate. Plants the entire stem portion into the substrate all the way up to the lowest leaf. Also needs good macro and micros available thru good dosing.

My kH was round 8 and my gH was around 11 when my downoi was doing well. I don't know if that mattered though. I've since moved my tank and it all melted instantly on the tank move. I will get some more as I relaly liked it. I do know it thrived when I was adding epsom salts to my tank.
