Use sewing cotton string and wound it around the moss against the decor. Eventually the cotton will disintegrate if it's not synthetic, and by that time, the moss will be firmly attached.
6700k is fine. Kelvin temperature apparently doesn't have too much of an effect on plant growth. As long as it's in a certain range, which I'm not too sure, maybe somewhere 5000-10000k, or even 6700k-10000k, it doesn't matter. It's more of a personal preference--lower kelvin temperature = more red, higher kelvin temperature more blue. About 6700k looks like noon sunlight colour. I notice a lot of forum members use 6700k.
I don't know anything about HC planting. I planted glosso in flourite though.
8-10 hours for lights are fine. I'm not too sure so don't quote me on that.
I use 12 hours and that's fine too, no visible algae.
Actually I don't think 5000k is too popular. I bought 2x 55w PC 5000k bulbs though. I might try the GE 9325K that's been all the rave right now.
2-3 inch of substrate is also fine.
