Point of a Lily Pipe

Ok...

So i currently got my spray bar in there.. honestly i think it's a ugly thing, i like the idea of glass... who wouldnt Anyways.. what's the big benefit of the lily pipe and how do you actually use it properly. I heard it gets that scum off the top of your surface... agrivates the water a bit.. and is perfect for planted tanks with pressurized co2 systems.. .anyone wanna clarify this for me.. or gimme a big novel to read lol.

its pretty much just an elegant outflow for your filter. any plastic outlet would work just aswell, but the lilly pipe is much more astheticaly pleasing.
