Constant replanting to maintain scape?

I have these plants as my back/mid ground plants

Didiplis Diandra
Rotala nanjenshan
Rotala Indica
Ludwigia Rubin

Here is my on going issue. Trimming plants causes side shoots and in a sense doubles the plant. I'm not wanting this. So I have been tearing it all out and replanting the tops. But then the plants don't look as good because they have no root system. Whats the method to maintain this? It's a hi tech setup co2 EI dose etc. I'm looking at the tank currently not wanting to spend a few hours replanting everything again.

If you have a fast growing plants, you'll always trim and replant the top to make it looks like the way it was especially if with Co2, or you can plant slow growing plants, and don't need to trim as often. I was the same way and trimmed every week, got tired of it and took most of my stem plants.

Thats what I figured. It's funny how all I do is try and get things to grow and not have algae. Then once they do I want them to slow down.
