Cryptocoryne sp striolata Rimbas River

In flower, this Cryptocoryne sp striolata from Sungai Rimbas (Sungai means river) is grown emersed and had flowered several times. Rimbas river is in the general area of Betong in Sarawak, Borneo (Malaysian side). I purchased this plant from a seller in Japan who imports from Malaysia. I have been waiting for it to send out a rhizome. Please click on the slideshow link to see the pictures. One of the pictures is mistakenly labeled as Pangkal Pinang, please ignore the wrong ID.

Here are some photos from the slideshow. One of the pictures is labeled as Pangkal Pinang, please ignore the wrong ID - it should be striolata Rimbas river.

WOW!! That is gorgeous! I'm continually envious of your plant collection! Maybe I can get some different specimens from you once I've relocated to Arizona in May!

Thanks! I have grown it submersed and it does well, except that it can't flower when under water.

They survive emersed in Phoenix? or do they need a consistent ambient humidity.

chris - What are you using as substrate/potting mix?

I've got two C. striolata that are struggling in my aquaponic grow bed. I'm thinking of potting them up and trying a more traditional method.

The emersed set up has a clear cover to keep the humidity high inside.

The substrate for this plant is Amazonia aquasoil. You can try potting one and place in emersed set up and another planted in traditional tank. I have grown it both ways.

I have grown it submerged. I'm glad you find it beautiful. It grows smaller and compact than nurii.

You have a good eye for outstanding crypts. I have learned to grow crypts better from others who shared their knowledge/experience on this particular plants.
