Fluval 404 clean

hey what is the best way to clean my fluval 404 filter? the tank has been up for about four months and I have noticed the filters output is slowing down. thanks. -John

replace any floss or the white pads, just toss them out. Rinse any media with tank water. Done

how the hell do you open the damn thing without spilling water everywhere?! I just tried to unclamp it and now theres a pond in my cabinet!!!!! a quick reply would be greatly appreciated!!!

Ehh don't open it in your stand?

Disconnect the hoses via the disconnects if there are any, then take the filter on over to a large container or a bathtub and open it.
