Pearling

Hi - what is meant by "pearling" when using compressed CO2? I'm new to using it, and use the drop checker I got from GLA primarily as reference.

Pearling is when your water is saturated with oxygen and your plants are producing so much is creates a bubble that rises off the plant. Usually done under high light and compressed C02.

correct me if i'm wrong, but my understanding of pearling is that you have to much co2 in the tank and the plants can not use all of it. I've always been told if you have pearling to turn the co2 down a bit, as it's just being wasted in the tank. Right/wrong?

Exactly. Cool to watch a plant actually producing oxygen.

This is incorrect.

Pearling is the phenomenon whereby plants are photosynthesizing at a sufficiently fast rate that the oxygen byproduct becomes visible.

It has nothing to do with plants not being able to use CO2. For example, if you pumped CO2 while the lights were off, no pearling would occur.
